Someone turned me on to a pretty impressive free set of tools for SEO. It's called Web CEO {free version} and you can get it at http://www.webceo.com . It includes an awesome submission tool, very good analysis tools for your site, and editor to make changes to your site and more. If you have your own site you can play with this and it will give you valuable optimization information and suggestions tailored to your site.

Another is Veretekk's Leadsomatic at http://www.bradparent.leadsomatic.com The free part consists of a submission tool that submits your ad to major search engines, and an analysis tool to tell you if it is listed in the top 100 results. For $10 a month you can also use The Hammer, which will submit your short advertisement to around 2 billion sites across the Internet. I use this just about every day.

A third is Google Webmaster Tools, which creates a sitemap file for your site that allows Google to more easily index your site. If your site hasn't been crawled yet, using this tool will get it done pretty quickly. Go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/ to find this and other nifty free things from Google.
